Gateway Community College Ranks in Top 10 Computer Training Schools in Connecticut

Share

Gateway Community College (GCC) was ranked in the top 10 computer science and information technology schools in the state by a leading resource for students and prospective students seeking entry into the field of IT, computer science, and technology.

The report, released last week by ComputerTrainingSchools.com, shows GCC ranked ninth on a list of Best Computer Science and IT Colleges in Connecticut.  In producing the rankings, ComputerTrainingSchools.com used Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) data to rank accredited two or four-year degree programs offering technology degrees.  At the time of the report, average in-state tuition at GCC was $3,816.

A fall 2018 study by the Preschool through 20 Workforce Information Network (P20WIN) found that Connecticut produces the fewest technology degrees of any of its neighboring states on a per capita basis.  Connecticut State Colleges & Universities (CSCU) President Mark Ojakian said that the P20WIN report makes it clear that Connecticut has a tremendous need for graduates in technology fields to fill the state’s workforce needs.

GCC offers numerous options for students interested in the computer science field.  Certificates are offered in Computer Science, Networking, and Networking Administrator.   Associate degrees are available in Computer Science, and degree specializations include Data Security Specialist, Mobile Application Development, and Networking.

Five other CSCU institutions were among the top 10 computer science and information technology schools in the state.  Other top colleges included Quinebaug Valley Community College, Manchester Community College, Norwalk Community College, Central Connecticut State University, and Naugatuck Valley Community College.  The University of Connecticut, Wesleyan University, Connecticut College, and the University of Bridgeport also made the top 10 list.
