Professor Lorraine Li was awarded Faculty of the Year for CT State Community College Gateway in 2024.

“Lorraine Li is an amazing professor who inspires her students to dream big and challenges them to be their best.  She’s a great colleague who truly believes in upholding our rights and in supporting others. Her tenure at Gateway truly exemplifies the mission of the Community College which makes her an excellent candidate for Faculty of the Year,” said Maribel Lopez Department Chair of Business & Hospitality in nomination of Professor Li for Faculty of the Year. 

Professor Li was recognized for her passionate instruction and her love of economics.  She is generous in her dedication to Gateway students. After Economics tutoring hours were cut in 2024, she moved her own office hours to the Center for Educational Services. 

Outside the classroom, she protects the rights of every Congress of Connecticut Community Colleges member on campus in negotiations and in the way she supports and encourages members. Professor Li is a generous annual contributor to the Gateway Community College Foundation and supports the campus food pantry.
