Gateway Community College (GCC) is pleased to announce that the Board of Regents for Connecticut Colleges and Universities awarded Eric Meyers, DC, Associate Professor of Biology, the Campus Teaching Award for the Connecticut Community Colleges.
Professor Meyers received the award for his “expertise in human anatomy,” and the skillful incorporation of clinical cases into his classes via innovative use of Blackboard, Camtasia lectures and his “enthusiasm in teaching challenging topics through hands-on activities.” Colleagues praised Meyers for his generous sharing of time, energy, course materials and resources from his private practice.
Meyers believes that teachers “must connect with students at a personal level and care about them as individuals, inspiring them, and instilling a passion for learning.” Meyers has been touted for displaying effective pedagogy across all of the courses that he teaches.
“Dr. Meyers' standards for excellence and student engagement are a shining example of the excellent work that takes place in our college every day,” said GCC President, Paul Broadie II. "We are proud to count him among GCC's finest, and congratulate him on this prestigious acknowledgement of his dedication and hard work."
