GCC’s Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, Vicki Bozzuto, announced the initiation of a new Continuing Education Course Installment Plan for students who enroll in the Phlebotomy Technician, EMT and Railroad Electronics Technician programs at Gateway Community College this spring. The plan allows the total cost of the course to be spread out over the length of the course, with a certain amount due each month.
Bozzuto also announced three new programs designed to boost employability. Better Business for a Better World, a “green-centric,” focused, short duration, high-impact customer service program geared toward a wide variety of employees, supervisors and managers. Areas covered include direct sales, dealing with difficult people, delivering quality service in a challenging economy, telephone skills, team efforts for success, closing the deal, online social networking & social marketing, cultural differences and cultural awareness, as well as others. Of particular note – a portion of the course directly focuses on success in the emerging “green” marketplace for earth-friendly products and services.
Certified Nurse Aide (C.N.A) pairs GCC and the South Central Visiting Nurses Association for a 4 week Certified Nurse Aide class. A high-school diploma or GED is required and students in this program must be at least 18 years of age with valid identification. The $1,200 program (includes text, State of CT Certification exam fee, and CT Nurse Aide Registry Application fee), begins Tuesday January 3rd and runs through January 27th.
For individuals with aspirations of joining the Armed Forces, GCC offers the ASVAB Advantage program. A primary requirement to join the Service is a passing score on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). This unique 28 hour hybrid course using both computerized training and live math and English skills coaches is designed to help participants refresh their skills and maximize your scores in the four most critical areas of the ASVAB (the subtests which comprise the Armed Forces Qualification Test score or AFQT). The all-inclusive price for this initial offering is only $250; with the course starting on January 3rd, 2012.
