Share
Gateway Community College is offering a new Criminal Justice Associate in Science degree for students interested in careers in the criminal justice field (some examples are crime scene technician, forensic mental health worker, program manager of youth and community programs, victim support officer, and youth and family worker). The program is designed for students who plan to enter the workforce after completing the degree or those already employed by a law enforcement or criminal justice agency.
For a degree program totaling 60-61 credits, students will learn theories, principles and processes of the criminal justice system. Additionally, students will gain knowledge of the roles of police, courts, and corrections. Students will apply and analyze these understandings as it relates to the criminal justice system and the community. The program focuses on the cultural diversity of our society and the over-representation of racial and ethnic minorities in the criminal justice system.
As part of the degree, students will take courses such as Abnormal Psychology, Criminology, Introduction to Corrections, and Evidence and Criminal Procedures.
