GCC Business Major Earns Second Place in Elevator Pitch Competition
Share
GCC Business major, Felicia Hill, won $150 and a trophy plaque at the Community College Spring Elevator Pitch competition at the University of Bridgeport on April 7. Hill is one of 40 students who pitched their business idea in a 60-second presentation designed to generate enough interest to attract investors.
“My business is named Faithfully Fitting,” explains Hill. “It is a retail clothing business that is strategically marketed to sell women's apparel and accessories to conservative and professional women.”
After a one-minute question and answer session following her pitch, Hill rose to the top of the competition with her award-winning idea. Judging criteria included assessment of the product or service, the target market, the presenter’s understanding of finance, management and funding potential.
Hill, who earned her certificate in Entrepreneurial Studies this May has deceided to continue on toward an associate degree. She recently established the Adult Learner's Club and was voted in as the incoming Treasurer for the Gateway Community College Student Government Association, a perfect position for the ambitious, organized and highly professional Hill, who "means business," when it comes to her studies and her career.
