GCC Students Participate in Hartford Mini-Maker Faire Conference 2017

Gateway Community College (GCC) Engineering Professor Christine Cherry, along with six students from the Engineering Club, showcased their 3D printer Project at the Hartford Mini-Maker Faire Conference on October 7, 2017 at Tunxis Community College. The Hartford Mini-Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase for inventors, engineers, and students in the STEM field to display their research findings to the community.

The students, along with recent GCC graduate Ronald Silva and Tunxis Community College student Elena Bolotova presented a hybrid CNC 3D printer as part of the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technologies (MET2) Program. The MET2 Program better prepares community college students with technical, professional, and entrepreneurial skills required to meet today’s workforce demands. Benjamin Nnko, GCC engineering student speaks about his experience at Gateway, “Many opportunities have opened their doors to me since I began my education at Gateway, the MET2 Program being one of them. This was my first year attending the Mini-Maker Faire and I had a great time with my peers.”


GCC offers Engineering and Applied Technologies Associate Degree (AS) and Certificate Programs in Transportation Technology, Technical Studies, and Engineering Technology.
