Gateway Community College Adds Hill Health Center to Campus Services

Share

As Gateway Community College celebrates its first year in the beautiful downtown location the college continues to welcome new additions to the campus, the latest of which is the Cornell Scott Hill Health Center that opened recently to coincide with the start of the Fall Semester.

Students access to on campus health services is a new and welcome addition to the GCC campus. The Hill Health Center will provide indispensable resources for faculty and students alike. The Center dispenses medical care as well as comprehensive Gynecological services to women, Immunizations and access to Behavioral and Mental Health professionals. Enrolled students and staff can receive routine care and health screening from Board-certified physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. The staff also furnishes wellness educational information on nutrition and weight management.

Payment can be arranged at the center, which accepts an array of commercial insurance providers including Medicare, Medicaid (Title 19) and HUSKY. Discounted services, for those who qualify, are available to individuals without insurance.

Chief of Strategic Development, Rob Rioux says of the Gateway, Hill Health partnership, “This collaboration is a perfect example of what is possible when two organizations dedicated to serving the people of this community come together in partnership. Our on-site medical professionals are available to provide primary healthcare and behavioral health services to all students, faculty and staff. Convenience aside, this relationship affirms our mutual belief that good health is a fundamental contributor to a good education and to an improved work-life. We are very proud of this collaboration and couldn’t be more delighted to offer these services.”

GCC President, Dorsey Kendrick agrees, “When basic needs are met, people are more likely to reach their full potential. Access to a health facility on campus is a wonderful addition to our college community – and it has already proven to be a valuable service.”  Dr. Kendrick refers to the Hill Health Center’s Dr. Alicia Grier who provided grief counseling for faculty, staff and students on Tuesday as the college community mourned the passing of a popular member of the security staff, who lost his life in a traffic collision Saturday.  “It’s a comfort to know there are services so readily available to the college community.”

The Cornell Scott Hill Health Center is housed in Room N114 at the Crown and Church Street entrance and is open Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5pm. For additional information or to schedule an appointment contact the Hill Health Center at (203) 503-3740.
