SGA Officers Attend Leadership Retreat
Share
Student Government Association officers from five of the 17 ConnSCU schools participated this summer in an overnight leadership retreat at Camp Hazan in Chester, Connecticut, where students learned about their roles and responsibilities as Student Government Officers and group development. In addition to learning about student government and sharing issues of concern and action for the upcoming year, students had the opportunity to participate in a low ropes course and a high ropes challenge.
Three of GCC’s incoming SGA officers participated. Maria Praeli, SGA president at GCC said, “I found it helpful to talk and meet individuals from various colleges and hear about their own experiences and issues they face. Working together in the rope courses and encouraging each other to step out of our comfort zones enhanced my experience. I ended up leaving from the retreat with knowledge gained, new friendships, and great memories.”
The schools that participated were Capitol Community College, Gateway Community College, Housatonic Community College, Manchester Community College, Middlesex Community College and Northwestern Community College. This function was coordinated by the directors of Student Activities at Gateway, Manchester and Northwestern.
