Palmquist Named Interim Culinary Arts Program Coordinator

Gateway Community College Academic Affairs Dean Mark Kosinski announced the appointment of Daniel Palmquist as Interim Culinary Arts Program Coordinator and full-time lecturer. Palmquist has been an adjunct instructor of Culinary Arts at Gateway for 22 years. Palmquist said his goals include attaining American Culinary Federation Accreditation and aligning Gateway’s curriculum with culinary programs at GCC’s sister schools.
“This will give our graduates even greater credibility in the community,” he said. Palmquist also plans to continue to reach out to area high schools to connect those who are interested in a culinary career to all that is available at Gateway.
“My dad gave me good advice as a high school graduate: `if you know how to cook you will always be able to get a job.’ I think that holds true today,” Palmquist said. “The food industry is an exciting place to be right now and the opportunities are endless.” The limitless possibilities are particularly true in Gateway’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs. The food service industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in this country and now ranks third in the nation in terms of growth.
