Savers Thrift Shop Presents Budget Friendly Fashion on the GCC Fairway
Share
Just in time for the Student Engagement and Career Development Job Fair on April 3, a representative from a local thrift shop visited the GCC Fairway with budget-conscious fashion advice.
Whitney Howard, Community Donation Manager for Savers Thrift Shop in Orange, said that while making a good first impression with potential employers is important, students should know that there are affordable options besides brand new pieces. Howard visited with students on March 28 with a rack of expertly coordinated interview attire from Savers that could be purchased at a fraction of the cost of new pieces. A nearby table had coordinated separates appropriate for businesses with more relaxed dress codes. Career Development Associate Judy S. Goldwyn said that Savers has been extremely responsive to the idea of helping GCC students in their career search.
Howard noted that interview clothes tend to be quite expensive and Savers has men’s suits for just $20. The examples she brought to the Fairway all cost $20 or less for an outfit. A dress on display could be purchased for just $13.49. Many sweaters, dresses and suits were paired with necklaces and Howard noted that the accessories at Savers are all $5 and under.
